The Bengalis are probably the luckiest ethnicity in India, that a political party which they have never supported(the BJP) and have been in the fore front of opposing the party, is also helping them in expense of the Assamese who have supported the BJP. Not true. In pre-modern period, the Pancha Dravida Brahmins comprised those from 4 southern states as well as from Maharashtra and Gujarat. This is the closest you can get to Dravidian ethnicity. Some Iyer sub castes are named Dravidas. Pancha Dravida in contrast to Pancha Gouda.
