I think part of it is they privilege big picture historic narratives over nuance.

I am not sure it’s malicious, maybe nuance and arguments about the details just sound like excuse making to woke thinkers.

Do read some of the Quilette pieces and Rowlings Essay – there seems to be a lot of data otherway around and i honestly dont trust woke narratives; lot of ppl are concerned that this uptake in transitioning might be due to peer pressure and just confused teenage angst. If one sees there have been certain cases filed by ppl who want to DE transition – saying they were tricked into it.

And that also leads to bigger problems like – would transwoman compete in woman’s sports ? I find it profoundly unfair on biological females. There r huge differences in btw sexes.

Not everyone thinks so analytically at the level of minute details. The question is why were they not historically accorded this type of respect.

They are looking at big picture trends and see JK Rowling punching down at a small % of the population.

well i dont agree – i have been following her politics forever – i dont find she has called for banning/ or even for revolution.
By today’s standards here politics was vanilla liberal – good health care and social services – pro-gay rights and anti-war. She may have been aggressive in her messaging but I don’t think the message itself was ever woke/Revolutionary. She has been going after labor and Corbyn for 5-6 years i guess
