In a sense all of human history has been a march towards universalism. 10,000 years ago we were divided into thousands of independent little “countries” and now we live in 200 or so countries. Thousands of languages, religions, ideologies all have given way to a few dozen.

I have observed same thing before in this blog. Apart from Left, liberalism is also universalist so are christianity and islam. The same thing applies in a limited sense to UC and Islamic networks across India. Any group which can bring/move resources from 1 theatre of conflict to another will always have the advantage. Further this distributed approach is very resilient. As in any distributed system it needs nodes/groups to be proficient in advanced protocols to interface with each other. Liberalism is miles ahead of others followed left/communists. Hence these 2 ideas are associated with higher “intelligence”.

This gets to a fundamental problem. I think left is universalist so alliance across geography works out. An American, Russian, Iranian, Indian, and Chinese liberal would agree more with each other than a right wing equivalent.
