I personally don’t know enough about the context of this but coincidentally this article was in my inbox today:

Pakistani Urdu is formal? Very interesting this reminds us of Scottish Highland English which is more “English” than the lowlander English since the Highlander took to English in the last few centuries..

yes it’s getting to be quite the issue. The attack claimed the victim tried to pull his turban, which was untrue, so the police arrested the victim. The victim had been stabbed multiple times and claimed he couldn’t breathe, which the police ignored. He collapsed to the ground and died.
Britain is outraged as this is a series of “ethnic attacks” (as your link shows).
Horrifying frankly. I just don’t know what’s the world’s coming to. Why is violence the first response???
Very tragic indeed and it’s causing a bit of a mini earthquake in the UK.
