A second China-linked bulk carrier broadcasted “CHINA OWNER_ALL CREW” while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday morning in an effort to reduce the risk of an IRGC drone or missile attack. We (ZeroHedge) were the first to highlight this tactic late Wednesday night and believe it will only become more widespread within the commercial shipping community.

Another issue I did not think about Water

The U.S. committed a blatant and desperate crime by attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island. Water supply in 30 villages has been impacted.

Attacking Iran’s infrastructure is a dangerous move with grave consequences. The U.S. set this precedent, not Iran.

The foreign minister of Iran is not joking. Many of the big cities in the Gulf region depend on desalination plants for their water supplies. Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh would have to be evacuated within days if its desalinated water supply, 90% of its total, would fail.

Israel’s five desalination plants, Ashkelon, Palmachim, Hadera, Sorek and Ashdod, produce a total of 50% of its potable water. These plants are non-movable, not-hardened targets.

The article has a whole lot about Radars of many have been destroyed or inoperable

First of all, Twitter/X is not a reliable source.

A reliable source is a reputed newspaper (DAWN, “The Guardian”).

The concept of “reliable source” is taught to American sixth graders.

Second of all, you clearly have an obsession with Pakistan. Apropos of nothing, you bring up news items to show Pakistan in a bad light.

Sometimes you should get beyond focusing on the messenger and focus on the ideas being debated.

X.T.M wrote an entire post on how India seems to have picked a side in this conflict. Not even bothering to condemn the assassination of the Supreme Leader seems like a mistake.

Pakistan shares a long border with Iran. We will probably be far more directly impacted than India.

We also have a security relationship with Saudi. If Saudi retaliates against Iran, Pakistan will be expected to take Saudi’s side.

“Please do take Saudi’s side”–

We’re not in a position not to. This is what signing a security treaty entails. An attack on Saudi is supposed to be treated as an attack on Pakistan (and vice versa). This is obviously not an optimal situation from Pakistan’s point of view.

Iran is not really in a position to “fan Balochistan further”. The regime is a bit busy trying to survive.

Your anti-Pakistan tone is noted.

Yeah, survival means fanning the Balochistan conflict if Pakistan wades into it.

Kabir

Reply to  Bombay Badshah

They’re not really in a position to do that.

Any threats to Pakistan’s territorial integrity will be dealt with. Pakistan has nuclear weapons. Iran doesn’t.

Anyway, hopefully none of this comes to pass.

Link 1: The Iranian regime account is using the Sun & the Lion Flag.

i) probably this video was done by an ad agency in say turkey or elsewhere.
this happens when things are done in a hurry.
ii) there are many iranians working in gulf states. they will be expelled just like palestinians were expelled after first gulf war. they will not be welcome back.
iii) if whites get scared of working in gulf, indians will fill in.

You cannot have Guns AND Butter

i.e, When in war you need to tighten belts.

So will the US public be willing to tighten their belts, Will the politicians be happy with tightening their belts.

All Oil futures are over USD 110/barrel. That means USD 5/gallon for gas (petrol).

We will find out what happens to the Stock Market on Monday (US 9am EST). (Futures are saying much lower)

And its only just over a week into the war.

In every war there is PAIN, for the US economic mainly.

Some cool/scary charts in this post

Will Iran attack Israels desalination Plants

Apparently 86% of Israels water is from Desalination.
Reminds me, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

An Iranian desalination plant was bombed by Iran.
The desalination plant in Bahrain bombed by Iran was in a US Base

Link Below is of Ashkelon Desalination plant in IsraelProvides potable water for roughly 15% of Israel’s daily consumption.

Mojtaba Khamenei has been chosen as the new Supreme Leader.

I guess it was expected that the regime would double down and pick another “hardliner”. Mojtaba will want revenge for his father’s assassination.

This kind of dynastic succession sets a bad precedent though.

This was the same problem in the 2008 Financial Crash. The markdowns on hard to value assets eg MBS were not known until it was too late,

So is the US heading for another big Financial crash
——————————————-
BlackRock Inc. slashed the value of a private loan to zero at the end of 2025, just three months after assessing it at 100 cents on the dollar, marking the second sudden wipeout to recently hit its private-credit division.

The wipeout was part of the broader loan losses that BlackRock signaled in late January, when it disclosed that the private-credit fund was preparing to mark down the net value of its assets by 19%.

I suspect what caused the financial crash was the Bear & Lehman were counterparties to so many bespoke instruments.

Not really. Big picture was that illiquid Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) had not been marked to market. So most did not see it coming till too late. That really made Derivatives like CDO’s and CDS collapse in literally hours.

I was in the middle of this crash, a quant if you may.as Fixed Income Analyst in Wall Street. I betted** against the market since about 2007, about USD 100/month which I could afford to lose (PUT Options). I used spend more than that on night out boozing.

I made.multiples of what I lost when the market crashed. Not huge by US standard, but enough to walk away from the US and live a simple lifestyle in Sri Lanka

** I dont do stocks normally. Not the gambling type.

This article was what made me look at what I was doing/working in Wall Street. To me it was a sure bet.

Thanks for sharing. By many accounts, it looks like US and Israel are suppressing info about how much damage they’ve really suffered so far and I am not even remotely surprised. Hopefully this puts a little sense in to these warmongers and also allows the Iranians to come to some form of detente for the benefit of their own people (the latter is almost certainly not going to happen though).

https://www.newindianexpress.com/opinion/2026/Mar/08/narratives-pretensions-and-reality
makarand paranjape writes an interesting article:

two excerpts are posted here:

i)  The erstwhile Soviet Union lost to the US, but its leftist supporters found cushy and tenured positions in Western academia as post-colonialists.

ii) Closer to our own pain point, the progressive Muslim Left lost to their sectarian and separatist Partition-mongering co-religionists. Pakistan was born a day before India, a blood-soaked severance of the sacred soil of Mother India. But they captured Bollywood. Lahore penetrated Mumbai.

iii) Russia, too, far from a swift victory in Ukraine, is entrammelled in a four-plus year war, from which it finds it very hard to extricate itself. It has also given up the Middle East, with its sponsored proxy regime overthrown, and its erstwhile dictator, Bashar al-Assad, now living in Russia under Russian protection.
But we can’t criticise Russia or its lifelong, ‘elected leader’. He is a friend of India. Just as China’s president for life is. We can—and must—criticise the US and Israel. Because they are occupying, colonising powers, no?

the present conflict will certainly make the sanctions on russian oil not iron clad. russians are also asking for more money per barrel.
