Modi Puts India Firmly in the Israel-US Camp

Modiโ€™s strong support for Israel โ€“ and refusal to condemn the Israel-U.S. strikes on Iran, a long-time friend of Indiaโ€™s โ€“ have โ€œdiminished Indiaโ€™s stature in the eyes of the world.โ€

Journalist Bharat Bhushan wrote in Deccan Herald that with the recent visit, Modi has put India โ€œfirmly in the U.S.-Israeli camp.โ€

That is not a space that India should be in if it is hoping to lead the Global South, especially in the context of Israelโ€™s continuing war on Gaza and the latest Israel-U.S. military strikes on Iran.

Refusal to condemn the assassination of the Supreme Leader is very problematic. If assassinating heads of government is a valid principle now then all bets are off.

Many Indians have commented on how “Hindu Hriday Samrat’s” visit to Israel just before these strikes on Iran undermines India’s credibility internationally.

It’s clear that in India’s eyes Israel can do no wrong.

Pakistan is trying to thread the needle. We condemned the US-Israeli strikes on Iran as well as the assassination of the Supreme Leader. Nawaz Sharif tweeted that the Supreme Leader was beloved by millions of Muslims. Pakistan has the second largest population of Shias in the world.

Yet, we have also condemned Iran’s attacks on “brotherly” Gulf countries.

Do not respond to me. Thanks.

I’m not interested in your anti-Pakistan trolling.

“Aukaat”– I’m glad you know one Urdu word. How cute!

Thanks.

Surely, you now understand why I am tired of dealing with this repetitive anti-Pakistan trolling?

Mentioning Pakistan’s “Aukaat” is not funny.

we had this discussion on another thread didn’t we?

India has a very obvious dependency on Israel for defence tech. It cannot be wished away, neither can the service exports dependency on the US. Heck, GoI is hamstrung in what it can or cannot do to counter the CCP, given the entire planet’s dependency on China, including India’s.

Is Pakistan seen as “firmly in the Israel US Camp” btw?

Pakistan has no diplomatic relationship with Israel. It is not at all the same as “Hindu Hriday Samrat” choosing to go to Israel in the leadup to the US-Israel war on Iran.

Sara Netanyahu was wearing a dress in the color of Hindutva.

The whole thing was just gross.

I understand that the Indian nationalists on BP don’t want to admit this, but India has abandoned the Palestinian cause. Mostly because Hindutvadis and Zionists hate Muslims equally.
