I have no new update. All I know is that the nuclear DNA from the Sri Lankan samples is allegedly going to be released some time this year.

It’s a joke of a theory for the most part.

Why hasn’t there been a lot of research on the genetic history of South Asia like the same way that was done for Europe?

For Europe, we know:
* a lot about the indigenous WHG who once lived there, and how much modern Europeans have of their genes. We know this for Indians as well, however, we don’t know the granular details. For example: How much Neanderthal did the AASI have? What was their genetic distance to the indigenous WHG of Europe?
* When the EEF entered Europe, we know the date – 8,300 years ago. We also know which modern-day population is most similar to them (Sardinians). Do we know precisely to the century when Zagros Farmers entered South Asia? Do we know which modern population is most similar to them? But has there been any research on whether or not there was a population replacement in India due to the Zagros Farmers who arrived around 6000 BC? Keep in mind that the EEF replaced 90% of the WHG of Europe, and I’ve never heard about the Zagros Farmers replacing the AASI.
* When IE arrived in Western Europe, we know the timelines accurately, like we do for India as well. We also know how much IE ancestry people in Europe have. We have this data for Indians as well. But has there been any research on whether or not there was a population replacement in India due to the IE who arrived around 2000 BC?

I’m hoping someone will post about what just happened in Bangladesh. Is it for better or worse that Hasina ran away? Why was it the quota system that provided the spark? I know she has a reputation as an authoritarian who got the economy moving…
