Six unmarked police cars carrying plainclothes officers arrived at the Sandringham estate while the former prince was celebrating his 66th birthday on Thursday. Officers searched the Norfolk property as well as Mountbatten-Windsor’s former home at the Royal Lodge in Great Windsor Park. Lucy Hough speaks to the Guardian journalist David Pegg.

I hope not; God save the King!
The analysis I read pointed out that before Andrew’s arrest, you had to go back to Charles I and Mary, Queen of Scots for examples of royals being arrested.
Andrew’s status as the son of the former queen and the brother of the reigning king is certainly not going to protect him from the consequences of his actions. I’m not saying that it should protect him but in years past the royal family would not have countenanced one of their own being arrested.
If you watch the video, the guest makes the point that if Andrew’s relationship with Epstein continues to be investigated, the question of who else in the royal family knew what when is bound to come up.
As a side note, I still feel weird calling him “Andrew” but he’s no longer a prince so I guess we have to get used to it.
the Royal Family is inextricably linked to the UK
Of course.
I read an article yesterday which mentioned that the notion of the “royal family” as it is currently structured was introduced by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. This article said that it was a notion that was good for PR when there were cute children playing in Balmoral but it become much more problematic when those children grew up and started getting embroiled in scandals.

Apparently “Fergie” wrote emails to Epstein saying things like:
“Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for” and “I am at your service. Just marry me”
