🕊️ On Iran, Israel, and the Right to Self-Defense

Why loving Israel, believing in peace, and opposing regimes means defending Iran’s right not to be bombed.

Dear Friends,

I don’t usually write about politics. And when I do, I try to centre peace — not provocation.

Anyone who knows me knows I have always believed in the dignity of Israel, the rights of Palestinians, and the intertwined destinies of both peoples. I love Israel. I love Iran. I believe in Palestine. I believe in peace. And I believe that each nation — each people — has a right to their own story, their own future, and yes, their own defense.

Which is why I write today, with care and some sorrow, in response to the recent Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Let me be clear: I oppose the Iranian regime. Vehemently. I stand with the brave women and men who chanted “Zan, Zendegi, Azadi” — women, life, freedom. But I cannot condone this unprovoked assault.

mossad did not infiltratre iran using ideological collaborators.it was corruption that helped mossad. this probably happens when there is poverty or when the ruled dont care for the ruling class and its ideas. yes a few kurdish rebels might have helped, but….

The size of Iran’s Jewish community is subject to debate. Many scholars put the number of Jews between 8,000 and 10,000, primarily in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz

Iran has a lot of borders. Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Turkey and Armenia.
Only one of these countries is non-muslim.

Guess where the Iranians are getting out….
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4ge7ej6824o

To be fair, the borders of Turkey, Uzbek and Iraq are open too. I also wanted to make the point about how selective media coverage can highly distort events.

Still, they dare not go into Afghanistan and Pakistan has shut the border. The Azeri one is always shut, now allowing only Azeris back. Iraq meanwhile has Syrian troops rushing to their other border for additional security and closing any over country route.

Vocal support and parliament resolutions is just virtue signaling, when the action is in direct contrast one can only be left with feelings of scorn and disgust.

There are 6 Chabad places in SL. At least two that I know personally. Rabbis in all of them to do kosher rituals (same as Halal rituals). Rabbi’s, Chabad houses are all illegal

Yes Illegal

All religious places need to be registered. The Chabad houses are not.
The Rabbis and visitors are on Tourist visas, most often expired. Rabbis and other religious need special visas and approval.

No action taken by govt because quite a few Sri Lankans work in Israel

Next we will have Jews claiming this is their homeland because Sri Lanka was the mythical Garden of Eden

They have a website openly listing their addresses and aims. Judge for yourself how illegal or nefarious it can possibly be.

They are unauthorized as are some/many Born Again churches

xperiia and other Indians are against evangelical churches in India but like Chabad mouses in SL

“In Weligama, there is one such place. Another one is found in Dehiwala. There is a huge construction taking place in the heart of Colombo too. There is no Jewish community in Sri Lanka. Then, why are there such large constructions in Sri Lanka?” he asked.

He called for immediate action in this regard.

The Prime Minister admitted that these are unauthorized places and therefore the government will be looking into it. However, she said the government is duty- bound to provide security to tourists in the country irrespective of their nationalities.

As US President Donald Trump weighs joining Israel in attacking Iran, the fast-spiralling conflict between two sworn enemies in the Middle East has presented Beijing and Moscow another opportunity to cast themselves as an alternative to US power.

My reading is that Xi and Putin are warning the US in joining Israels war. They probably dont want an ally destroyed, like what happened to Libya and Iraq.

I guess this was not a factor Netanyahu considered when he figured the US would join in,

By extension this support also extends to Pakistan if it plays its cards right

at least u s a and russia have put their troops abroad to help their allies and got their noses smashed. china is yet to put a single pair of boots abroad to help its allies. i would not count on china as a military power in the same league as u s a and russia.

Vietnam
During the Vietnam War, China provided substantial military support to North Vietnam, including deploying over 320,000 troops, primarily for air defense and engineering support, between 1965 and 1970. While Chinese forces did not engage in direct combat with US troops, their presence and activities were a significant factor in the conflict, impacting the scale and nature of the war

Korea
of the Korean War was an offensive by the ChinesePeople’s Volunteer Army (PVA) against United Nations Command (U.S./UN) forces, most of which were soldiers of South Korea and the United States.

A U.S. military intelligence report dated 25 November estimated that the total number of Chinese soldiers in North Korea was only 70,000. That same date the PVA launched the Second Phase Offensive with 300,000 men or more

Well worth a read by M. K. BHADRAKUMAR

As the US’s capacity to influence events in the Middle East keeps diminishing, Israel’s unviability as a nation propped by the Jewish Lobby in the Beltway appears sharper in focus. Already, there is resentment within the US about bankrolling Israel and fighting its wars.

On the contrary, the rise of Iran is inevitable — with a population base 10 times bigger than Israel’s, vast mineral resources, a self-sufficient agricultural

“The effectiveness of GBU-57s has been a topic of deep contention at the Pentagon since the start of Trump’s term, according to two defense officials who were briefed that perhaps only a tactical nuclear weapon could be capable of destroying Fordow because of how deeply it is located.”

Trump was told that dropping the GBU-57s, a 13.6-tonne (30,000lb) bomb would effectively eliminate Fordow but he does not appear to be fully convinced, the people said
