Major Amin; a few words on Pakistan, Afghanistan and China

Another BP Podcast is up. You can listen on LibsynAppleSpotify, and Stitcher (and a variety of other platforms). Probably the easiest way to keep up the podcast since we don’t have a regular schedule is to subscribe to one of the links above!

Last time we interviewed Major Amin just after the fiasco of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan. That was a relatively substantive interviey w (you can listen to it at this link: Major Amin on the age of strategic anarchy) and proved extremely popular, so there was a lot of demand to invite Major Amin back for an update. I caught up with the Major in a less than sober mood initially (some of you may have heard that recording) when he expressed his disappointment with how badly things are going in his homeland in somewhat colorful language, but at his request we have now redone this interview (the exact same questions) in a more sober tone. Enjoy.

a. Went through Major Amin’s older podcasts, his points are generic (not a short coming) and almost all of his predictions don’t come true.
b. idk why he underplays China.
c. Hoping is coping.
d. Outsiders in general don’t know what the fuck is going on. From Epidemiologists to Faujis.

Falguni Nayar is maybe the most hardcore self-made Indian woman ever. Massive Respect! Plan, discipline, execution…flawless. She started Nykaa when she was 50!

Entertaining Padma awards. Finally Dr. Sujoy Guha one of the very few Indians ever to have developed a approved drug (RISUG) got his Padma Shree. I had the good fortune of listening to him in college, he would say patents and papers are all useless, pick up a real societal problem and solve it. Set up the biomedical engineering departments at IIT Kgp and IIT D. He is a great man.

New navy ship for PKN from China. Earlier PKN had bought some really cheap ($100-ish million/piece) opv’s from Damen. Those were not good ships.

Pro: Chinese ships are cheaper and in general don’t hold up that well. Con: This is still an upgrade from hand-me-downs from western navies.

Pro: Uniform Chinese weaponry, blah blah blah…

India sending wheat to Afghanistan. Don’t support it, but no one cares what I think. Atleast make sure to engrave Jai Hind in every grain of wheat.

It’s just wheat. Also we are sending it in cost effective way ( thru pakistan ) rather than the whole wasteful flight corridor bullshit or chabahar.

I mean if we are willing to throw good money after bad, I would rather we thru less bad money.
